About Me
My name is Yvonne West and I am an up incoming artist living within the city of Philadelphia. Growing up in this city, I developed a passion for art. My love for it I got from my father who painted and drew during his leisure. I would stare at him draw anything I would ask him to draw for me and would become amazed at how he sketched whatever he envisioned. He would eye every detail and draw them in a realist form. Eventually, I wanted to draw like that and he caught on to it. So, he had me look at his old art books he had since he went to art school during his younger years, and he would have me look at the shapes of images and sketched them. My devotion to drawing grew where I was placed in art classes. I never pursued a career in art due to hearing my teacher back when I was in the eighth grade, mention to me and other students within my class that the only way an artist will make money is when they are dead. That meant to me I would be starving if I became an artist. When I got to be in high school I developed an interest in screenwriting and hoped to have a career within it. I always had a creative imaginative mind and would do great telling stories. After graduating high school I enrolled in Community College of Philadelphia earning an associate’s degree in Communications and Theaters option and transferred to Temple University earning a bachelor’s degree in Communications. I decided to get more back into art drawing and painting taking an art class locally to better my craft. I am an artist who is learning and growing and who hopes to use this site to show love for art and storytelling.
